Golden Gate Village was built in 1961 and is an important historic public housing community that provides a vital source of affordable housing for Marin City residents. After many years of wear and tear, the buildings and homes that make up the Golden Gate Village community are old, outdated and in need of repair. Revitalization will preserve Golden Gate Village as affordable rental housing and will help provide a healthy and safe living environment for all its residents.
The revitalization is anticipated to repair and update the buildings, homes and grounds, including:
Interior improvements, including:

- New kitchens and bathrooms
- New finishes and fixtures
- New electrical and lighting
- New mechanical
- New heating/ventilation/air conditioning (HVAC),
- New water heating and plumbing systems,
- And other improvements.
Exterior Improvements, including:

- Repair of building foundations, concrete and masonry,
- Repair of siding, painting and caulking,
- New windows and doors,
- New roofing,
- New fire sprinklers,
- New landscaping, fencing and lighting,
- Sidewalk repairs
- Upgrades to meet current California Fire Code, California Historic Building Code, California Building Code, and California Green Building Standards Code (CALGreen),
Infrastructure improvements, including:

- New water, sewer, and storm drainage pipes,
- Undergrounded and upgraded electrical service,
- Street, access, and parking (bike/vehicle) improvements, including streets/curb/gutter, pedestrian crossings, sidewalks, ADA path of travel, asphalt, paving, and striping.,
And other improvements.
