Golden Gate Village was built in 1961 and is an important historic public housing community listed on the National Register. Revitalization of Golden Gate Village requires adherence to the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) which includes Section 106 review and consultation with interested parties.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is the agency responsible for overseeing this review. HUD has initiated the Section 106 consultation process which is planned to include:
-
- Notification to interested parties of opportunity to consult (completed)
- Distribution of plans and project materials to consulting parties (completed)
- Meetings with consulting parties to review the project scope, answer questions and solicit input
- Refinement of scope to incorporate input into the final design, where appropriate
